Camp Jockey Hollow, a summer day camp located in Mendham, New Jersey, has 212 beautiful acres of land with pristine hiking trails, a large swimming pool, low ropes challenge course, zip lines, an equestrian center, archery range and more.
Challenge Course Specialist
Responsibilities:
Schedule and develop age-appropriate programs and activities in camp through promotion and supervision of challenge course and zip line activities and games which will promote team building Maintain strict safety procedures set forth by GSNNJ Attend pre-camp training and conduct training to staff on challenge course and zip line areas Instruct and support a group of 20 girls, providing team building activities Facilitate zip line to all campers entering 4th grade and up Maintain communication with Unit Leaders, Counselors, and Junior Counselors regarding camper behavior and supervision Plan, coordinate, and supervise special programs for Special Interest Day Keep a supply of appropriate rainy day activity resources available Assist in planning and leading games and campfire program for all 3 overnights until 9:
30PM Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of challenge course and zip line areas Conduct safety check of equipment and safety procedures and make and/or report needed repairs and keep daily records of such Maintain files of ideas and directions of challenge course and zip line programs Write and submit a seasonal report and evaluation of the season's program activities Promote high camper and staff morale Document and diligently report any health and welfare concerns to the Camp Health Supervisor Perform other duties as assigned Challenge Course Specialist
Qualifications:
Must be 18
years of age Certification in challenge course and zip line to be obtained via training and certification by camp prior to camp season Desire and ability to supervise, lead, and positively manage campers and work with other staff in a cooperative, team-oriented camp atmosphere Ability to teach skills at in challenge course and zip line to campers of all ages and staff in a safe, inclusive, creative, and fun way Ability to use sound judgement surrounding safety procedures Must be attentive and timely Regularly speak, read, write, interpret, and respond to words in the English language Must be able to communicate well with other staff and community partners Membership in GSUSA is required for the duration of contracted employment period Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds First Aid and CPR certified or willingness to obtain prior to camp beginning Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
